Blogger Tips and Tricks - Blog Pimpin

Alright boys and girls, I know what your thinking, how the hell did he create such a kickass blog. Well i'm gonna tell ya. I'm no expert or authority on such matters, so I'll just tell you exactly what I did and what you need to know. First up I use the blogger platform, so I found a template worthy of my ramblings:

Gecko & Fly Erudite Blogger Template




It's a pretty cool template, It has one major fault though, there are two right hand sidebars, when you input something in the first one the second slides down. It's a simple matter of the widths are too large.

Here's the fix:Once you have uploaded the template, click edit html:

1. Press control + f
2. Type the following in the the search box or just copy and paste, then press enter: #sidebarbottom {
3. Change the width to 160px this will allow a standard adsense unit.
4. Immediately underneath you will see, #rightsub2{ ,change the width again to 160px, save the template and you are done.

When you go into the page elements you should now see the 2 columns are level, you can play around with the widths if you wish as you can probably make them a little bigger, but this should do the job as it fits all your adsense in.


Next up blogger tends to put a faint border around any images you upload, this is particulary annoying, heres what to do:

1. Same as before press control + f
2. Type this in the pop up box, then press enter: .post img {
3. Change the border to 0px.
4. Click save template and you are done.

Jobs a goodun, any images you now upload in your posts will not have a border around.


Removing the Blogger Nav Bar - simple really, here's what to do:

1. Edit html - control + f
2. Type this in the pop up box, then press enter: /head>
3. Just above the text copy and paste the following code:

#navbar-iframe {
height: 0px;
}

4. Click save template and you are done. Preview your web page, if all is not well, move the code you have pasted into the template up a few lines. This should fix any problems.
